Three Athletes Shortlisted for Young Athlete of the Year Prize

England footballer Michelle Agyemang, darts sensation Luke Littler and cricket star Davina Perrin have been shortlisted for the 2025 Young Sports Star of the Year award.
The three finalists have been honoured for their exceptional achievements over the previous year.
Agyemang helped the Lionesses secure Euro 2025, Littler claimed the world title for the maiden time, and Perrin rose to fame with a historic innings.
Littler was the recipient in 2024 after his sensational debut year.
The finalists were revealed during a live broadcast on a national radio breakfast show.
The champion will be unveiled on the Sports Personality of the Year show on December 18th.
The event will be televised from 19:00 GMT.
Michelle Agyemang
Age: 19 Sport: Football
Only 90 days after her first cap for her country, Agyemang played a dramatic and decisive role in England's run to winning the Euros.
She entered the fray to score vital last-gasp goals in both the quarter-final and semi-final.
Agyemang's stunning interventions led to her being named the best young player at the Euros.
Later in the year, she was awarded the prestigious Golden Girl honour for the finest emerging star on the continent.
She was also nominated for the Kopa Trophy for the planet's top young female footballer.
Agyemang, who has been on loan at Brighton from Arsenal, suffered an ACL injury in October.
"To be named a finalist for Young Sports Personality of the Year is an honour," said Agyemang. "I thank God and I'm appreciative of the support I've received from my inner circle and supporters."
Luke Littler
Age: 18 Sport: Darts
Littler kicked off the year in spectacular fashion as - aged 17 - he became the earliest-ever winner in history.
He secured a comprehensive triumph over Michael van Gerwen in the final.
His follow-up triumph at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth player to complete the prestigious three major tournament wins.
He didn't stop there - his triumph in November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he ascended to world number one for the first time.
At 18, he is the youngest man to do so, shattering the previous record.
"To receive a nomination for Young Sports Personality of the Year is a massive accolade," stated Littler. "My victory in 2024 was a highlight for me and I've had another unbelievable 12 months. I want to continue raising the profile of darts."
Davina Perrin
Age: 19 Sport: Cricket
Perrin is one of English cricket's top prospects and burst into the spotlight with an remarkable and historic innings in August.
Her magnificent 42-ball century in The Hundred is the fastest by an English woman in T20s.
It also stands as the shared third-fastest women's T20 century in a top-tier competition.
Perrin ended up as runner-up in the batting rankings and was named PCA Women's Young Player of the Year.
"I'm incredibly grateful to be shortlisted for the Young Sports Star award," expressed Perrin. "It means a great deal. I hope it motivates more girls to get into cricket."
