Around 25,000 residences in Queensland's southeast woke up experiencing outages on Monday morning after severe thunderstorms swept through the state, producing strong winds topping over 100 km/h.

Massive Frozen Precipitation and Widespread Destruction

Residents witnessed large ice chunks as large as seven centimeters in certain regions. Weather authorities announced that different parts across Queensland had been hit with substantial ice precipitation.

Emergency crews were focused on reestablishing electricity service throughout the impacted areas, with nearly 70 crews deployed to handle the extensive power failures.

Victorian Weather Woes

Simultaneously, nearly 1,000 households in the southern state also experienced power outages after the capital city saw its most precipitation in a year and a half.

Emergency response teams received 598 emergency reports across the state, primarily for structural issues but also for collapsed vegetation and water accumulation.

• The Werribee area - recorded significant storm damage
• Hoppers Crossing suburb - numerous emergency calls
• Wyndham region - 179 emergency requests

At one point on yesterday, over twenty-eight thousand electricity consumers in the state were lacking electricity.

Climate Outlook

Moist weather were predicted to continue along large portions of the state's eastern regions this next several days as a weather pattern continued to draw in moisture against the shoreline.

Tuesday was expected to become the wettest day, with ongoing storm activity anticipated across various areas of both states.

Safety Concern

Health officials warned that there was an increased chance of weather-related respiratory issues across the countryside regions, especially given the existing atmospheric conditions.
