The United Kingdom Set to Utilize Seized Russian Holdings to Finance Ukraine's War Effort
The United Kingdom is ready to advance with using the full worth of frozen Russia's assets to support Ukraine's defense operations, PM Sir Keir Starmer has declared.
In a joint statement, the officials of the United Kingdom, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany asserted that this joint measure would heighten pressure on Moscow's head Vladimir Putin and urge Russia to come to the table.
They clarified that the move would be executed in strong partnership with the America.
UK penalties have immobilized over £25bn of Russian assets since Russia launched its full-scale invasion against Ukraine in 2022. Yet, up to this point, resources sent to the Ukrainian government using Russia's holdings had only been sourced from earnings and returns accrued on them.
Sir Keir told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that the Britain, the French Republic, and Germany were united in their aim to drive progress toward utilizing the full value of the frozen Russian sovereign assets to conclude the conflict.
He stated that additional restrictions in the coming days and weeks would increase the strain on Moscow.
This statement comes after EU representatives gathered in the Danish capital previously to consider utilizing immobilized Russian assets for a €140 billion financial aid to the Ukrainian nation.
Recently, President Donald Trump called on international partners to take or employ seized Russian funds, based on news outlets.
The value of immobilized Russia's holdings in the Europe is estimated to be almost €211bn.

The Russian government carried out large-scale missile and drone strikes throughout the Ukrainian territory on that day, resulting in blackouts in many areas of the capital city, Kyiv, and eight other regions.
Several persons were killed and a minimum of 20 people were hurt in the attack, Ukrainian officials stated.
In a message on X subsequent to the incident, Zelensky wrote that the premeditated assault aimed at public and utility structures.
