The former Liverpool manager states rejoining to coach Liverpool is theoretically possible.
Jurgen Klopp, who departed from Anfield in 2024, indicated that rejoining the club is a possibility. The 58-year-old, post a game-changing nine-year spell which brought a European Cup triumph and the Premier League crown since 1990, now holds positions in a global football capacity with the Red Bull group and in an advisory capacity for the DFL.
Supporters’ Hopes and Klopp’s Candid Remarks
The club claimed England's top flight under Arne Slot, though countless followers who revere Klopp would embrace the idea that he might come back one day. In a wide-ranging interview, he shared with his interviewer: “I stated I won't manage any other side on English soil. Therefore should it be the Reds...absolutely. It's plausible.”
“I’m 58, so the choice could be mine later on, who knows. Do I have to make the decision today? Then I will not coach again. Fortunately, I don’t have to do that. I'll wait and observe what lies ahead.”
What Would Lure Him Back?
When asked about which situations would need to occur to tempt his return to the touchline, Klopp admitted he feels no immediate pull to such a return. “I'm not entirely sure, I love what I do right now,” he commented. “No longing for management; I avoid standing during downpours for two-and-a-half or three hours; I don’t miss going to interviews repeatedly each week or constant media duties a week.
“No nostalgia for the changing area per se, yet sharing a meal alongside the squad enjoying conversation, I appreciate that. Success was frequent meaning regularly positive atmosphere at the club. I still have Van Dijk's laughter in my ear to illustrate.”
Praise for His Successor
He spoke highly of the current boss, acknowledging his role for the adjustments which secured the championship last term. Liverpool have lost a string of losses across various tournaments post heavy investment, but he rubbished the suggestion that it might signal a decline.
“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker in Flo[rian] Wirtz, you will all eat your words if spoken against. An outstanding player. Ekitike, incredible player. It’s a really good thoughtfully assembled roster. No need for concern over the club, they'll bounce back.”
Emotional Tribute for Diogo Jota
The manager expressed deep feeling on the loss of the Portuguese star, a player he signed during his tenure, and its impact on Liverpool. The Portugal international died tragically in a road accident alongside his brother this past summer.
“How do you replace such an individual? It goes beyond the player himself, it's his character. I can’t imagine the dressing room missing him. I still cannot speak properly on this topic. A devastating blow for all the boys too. No one within the club might employ it to justify results though it's a fact. You walk in a dressing room where his spirit remains. Dealing with that emotionally is challenging. Unbearable.”
