Sweden Selection Lineup: Isak Selected While Gyokeres Misses Out
The striker signed with the Gunners from Sporting in July
Gunners striker Viktor Gyokeres was left out from Graham Potter's maiden Sweden squad, while Liverpool striker the talented attacker secured inclusion
The Arsenal forward is due to undergo more assessments in the coming days following fears of a thigh issue during the Gunners's English top flight triumph against Burnley on Saturday
Gyokeres was absent from Arsenal' European victory versus the Czech side earlier this week
Alexander Isak Back in Action
The Liverpool striker, who hasn't featured from late October owing to a groin problem, made the squad to play in the World Cup games against Switzerland (November 15th) plus the Slovenian side (18 November)
Additional Premier League Call-ups
- Tottenham playmaker Lucas Bergvall, working his way back from a head injury
- Magpies winger the Swedish international
These players were included in Potter's England-based contingent chosen under ex- Brighton, Chelsea and West Ham manager Graham Potter
Potter's Role
Potter was appointed the Swedish federation initially for an interim period in late October, less than a month after leaving from the Hammers
Former coach Jon Dahl Tomasson was fired following Sweden's 1-0 loss against the Kosovan team on 13 October, an outcome that made automatic qualification in qualifying group out of reach
Present Position
Sweden are currently last place in Group B with only one point from four matches
Even if they fail to secure second place, they may yet be involved in the World Cup play-offs because of their performance in the latest Nations League
