People have come together throughout the country to mark 24 months since the Hamas-initiated offensive on October 7th, 2023, as talks proceeded in Egypt over an end to the hostilities in Gaza.

The assault resulted in over 1,200 people losing their lives and 251 others taken away to Gaza as prisoners. It was the most deadliest day for Jews since the Holocaust.

Israel answered by launching a armed campaign in Gaza which has killed in excess of 67,000 people, as reported by the territory's Hamas-run health ministry. Its figures are regarded as accurate by the United Nations and other global organizations.

"Our bloodthirsty adversaries have struck forcefully, but they have not broken us," the leader remarked on Tuesday.

He also pledged to "accomplish all the goals of the war: the release of all the abducted, the destruction of the Hamas administration and the promise that Gaza will no longer create a risk to Israel".

Commemorative Events Across Israel

The national leadership postponed state commemorations until October 16th - after the completion of the Jewish High Holiday season - but events still were held throughout the country on Tuesday.

A memorial ceremony for the relatives of Israeli citizens killed in the Hamas attack was organized in Tel Aviv. Put together by the victims' relatives, it was broadcast on Israeli TV networks.

A period earlier, a minute's silence was held throughout the country.

Negotiation Meetings in Egypt

At the same time, Israeli and Hamas representatives met in the Egyptian Red Sea resort of the negotiation venue for a continuing round of indirect talks to discuss the terms of the agreement.

A senior delegate familiar with the discussions revealed that an evening round of negotiations commenced at 19:00 Cairo time.

The representative stated the day's discussions ended without concrete outcomes, due to conflicting views over the proposed Israeli retreat arrangements from Gaza and over guarantees Hamas wants to make certain Israel does not resume hostilities after the first phase of the agreement.

He added that the discussions are "tough and have still not achieve any significant progress," but pointed out that mediators are striving to reduce the disparities between the two sides.

Critical Points in Talks

  • A lasting halt to fighting
  • The exchange of the prisoners still kept by Hamas for inmates from Gaza
  • The pullout of military personnel from Gaza
  • Measures for relief supplies deliveries
  • After-conflict management of the territory

Public Sentiment

In Tel Aviv's public square that day, 29-year-old Hagar - whose sibling endured the incident on the outdoor event, where hundreds were lost their lives and dozens more were abducted by Hamas fighters - shared: "No location feels like home any longer and until each abducted person are released none of us will have peace of mind."

"Once we see everyone home again, we can relax once more. Then we can begin to heal," she continued.

In front of the leader's residence in Jerusalem, people congregated to express their solidarity for the families of the hostages. Israel states forty-eight stay in captivity in Gaza, approximately twenty of whom are considered to be living.

Activist Atalia Regev stated: "We must do whatever arrangement required for the hostages to be released. But we sincerely need promises that we will be secure."

Opinion polls now regularly indicate that approximately the majority of Israelis want the conflict to conclude in return for the liberation of the captives.

Gaza Situation

At the site of Nova festival, mourners gathered to pay their respects.

From that location, the boom of aerial bombardments and explosions could be detected just a short distance away in Gaza, where local people reported the heavy Israeli shelling carried on.

In the urban center, air and artillery strikes were documented in the dawn of that day in the west side neighborhood, area and zone neighbourhoods and in the east side district of Sheikh Radwan, as well Shati refugee camp to the north-west.

"As the evening arrives, the fear comes with it," evacuated Gaza City resident a mother, whose teenage son was killed by an Israeli aerial attack last year, shared.

"We are terrified of the attacks. During nighttime we are resting together, embracing, particularly my youngest child who places his face on me all night."

"Every second we check the updates to see developments. And I'm worried that this truce will not be achieved and that the fighting will resume to us."

Medical Crisis

Al-Shifa hospital in the urban area reported it had received the corpses of six people by the daytime, including three who lost their lives in an Israeli bombing in the south part area.

A different healthcare center in the south region of the city indicated two more dead people had been transported. A person was killed by Israeli forces while looking for aid to the south, medics reported.

The region's health ministry said a significant number of the {territ
