Iran Reports Attack on American Facility in Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Military Operations.
Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched operations across the region in response for a significant and continuing attack targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area close to the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any impact is uncertain and the American officials has not commented.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to American military installations - reported they have shot down missiles in their airspace.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.
IRGC Statement
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was attacking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on Iran initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on sites associated with the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to revolt against the regime.
Additional Developments
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military reported it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates stated that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses dealt with the projectiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted missile fragments fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, causing some property damage and fatalities.
The US Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
