Information Available About the Victims of the Bondi Terror Attack
At least 16 individuals perished and in excess of 40 sustained injuries when assailants opened fire at a Hanukah gathering at Bondi Beach, a tragedy local authorities have labeled a act of terrorism.

London-born rabbi Eli Schlanger, 41, was initially identified.
Described as a father of five children, he was the associate rabbi at Chabad of Bondi. Relatives and acquaintances described him as âvivacious, energetic, full of life and a very warm outgoing person who was dedicated to assisting othersâ.
âHow is it possible that a happy rabbi who went to a beach to spread happiness and light, to make the world a better place, lose his life in this way?â a family member remarked.
Schlanger and his wife celebrated the arrival of their newest son in October.
Alexander Kleytman
Alexander Kleytman also lost his life, as stated by his wife.
She described the moments leading up to the shooting, stating they had been standing together when the shooting began. âHe shielded me because he wanted to stay near me,â she recalled.
The husband and wife were both Holocaust survivors, having experienced unspeakable terror in their childhood. They had later moved to Australia from Ukraine.
Dan Elkayam
The French foreign ministry have announced that French man Dan Elkayam is among the dead.
Officially, the Foreign Minister declared that France shared the grief of his family and loved ones, the Jewish community, and the Australian people.
âThis despicable act is a fresh and tragic example of a disgusting rise of hatred against Jews that we must eradicate,â the message continued.
One Child
A 10-year-old girl who was rushed to the a children's hospital succumbed to her injuries, police have confirmed.
One Israeli Citizen
One victim from Israel was among those killed in the incident, as per reports referencing the Israeli government.
Those Injured
Of the 42 people transported to hospitals, a significant number remain receiving treatment, with a number in serious condition. The injured include two police officers who attended the scene.
A casualty is a member of the public who rushed to the scene to tackle one of the attackers. Hailed as a hero, he sustained bullet wounds but is recovering well in hospital.
Arsen Ostrovsky
Among the injured is Arsen Ostrovsky, a public affairs professional. Reports indicate he was injured and underwent treatment in hospital.
In a message, he recounted the incident as an âabsolute bloodbath,â but also noted the actions of those who rushed to help. He stated he felt it was a âmiracleâ he was alive.
Evan Zlatkis
Evan Zlatkis, a media director, was another casualty in the shooting. He told reporters he listened to âdozens and dozensâ of gunshots.
âInitially, I believed it was rubber bullets, but it penetrated my own skin and into my leg,â he said. âI sustained a gunshot wound. They bandaged me up. Iâm ok.â
