Buffalo's Disappointing Performance Opens New England Path to AFC East Lead - Highlights of NFL Week 10

Week 10 again delivered, with a major surprise for the Buffalo Bills demonstrating the 'any Sunday can bring surprises' saying that attracts so many people into the NFL
This outcome may have opened things up for the Patriots to move back into a leading position they used to occupy, with a schedule that provides them an advantage over their 8-2 competitors
Over in the NFC the Seattle Seahawks and Rams had perfect results to set up a major confrontation next week, while our player of the week is pursuing milestones as well as the MVP award
Analysis - Just a Bad Day for the Bills?
Was it just an emotional letdown from defeating Kansas City the previous week or a deeper issue? This remains the question for the Bills to address
The Bills had won seven in a consecutive games against the Dolphins but were second best from the start as the Dolphins ran out 30-13 winners in an eye-opening result - and performance
MVP Josh Allen only got the team's initial first down in the third quarter and first points in the final quarter - admittedly the Dolphins had ten days to prepare but it was still a massive egg produced by one of the league's best offenses
Tua Tagovailoa threw two scores but running back De'Von Achane was the devastating difference, with 225 combined yards and two scores
Bottling up the league's best rushing attack was also key, with Cook and teammates recording just eighty-six yards, their lowest of the season and slightly more than half their 161.5-yard average
Additionally there were the three critical ball losses, and the two from Josh Allen in particular. An pass caught by defense in the scoring area resulting in a nine minute drive produced nothing, and his fourth-quarter fumble that Miami turned into seven points just later
It was typical 'old Buffalo' as they hurt themselves in the foot, falling into a deficit on defense and Josh Allen attempting to overcompensate to rescue his squad from the situation - rather than the composed, controlled, balanced Bills we've witnessed this year
The Dolphins have demonstrated a varied performances this year so the jury's out on whether this is the start of a trend, but for the Bills they'll need an instant response in a tough game against Tampa Bay in week 11 as the Patriots are quietly moving into a nice lead at the summit of the American Football Conference East
Spotlight - New England Identify Route to Unexpected First Place
Speaking of the New England, they're among three eight and two teams in the NFL, all American Football Conference sides, but are they the top team?
You can pick holes in New England, Denver and Indianapolis really for feasting on the lesser sides, with only five of their total 24 wins coming against teams with a winning record - and one example was the Indianapolis defeating the Denver
The Broncos beat the champion Eagles in Philly and are kings of the fourth-quarter while Indianapolis can rely on Jonathan Taylor, but the Patriots adding Sunday's victory in Tampa to their prime time win in Orchard Park seems like a statement
Their two defeats occurred in new head coach Mike Vrabel's first three games, with seven consecutive victories, just like Denver, from that point - but taking down Mayfield after the Buccaneers had a bye to get ready was huge
Drake Maye's MVP claims continue to be discussed, and he definitely earns credit for bravery after taking some hard tackles in Tampa Bay but hanging in there to steer his team to victory
The defense is reliable and rookie rusher TreVeyon Henderson exploded on game day with 147 rushing yards and two exciting touchdowns of 55 and 69 yards - establishing himself as just the fifth different ball carrier to break 22 miles per hour this season on his initial touchdown
While you can argue who 'the top team' is technically, the Pats should be favorites to end with the top record due to their schedule - which includes just one game against a winning team, although a huge one against the Bills
Traveling to Baltimore is challenging too, but the Broncos have it even tougher in the AFC West with the Kansas City to play twice, the Chargers (who might also challenge for top seed but face the same problem) and also the Green Bay on the schedule
The Colts also play the Chiefs, and have the Seahawks, 49ers and two matchups with the 5-4 Jacksonville to face. There is a considerable distance to go but the door is open for a shock number one position in the American Football Conference
Coming Up - Los Angeles and Seattle Set for Week 11 Clash
Two teams with strong arguments to be superior to all of the three different eight and two teams are National Football Conference West rivals the Seahawks and Rams, who both scored forty points to go to seven and two ahead of the upcoming major meeting between the two in LA
Both have secured four victories in a consecutive games, have quarterbacks in Stafford and Sam Darnold playing at an high standard (although Sam Darnold had ball security problems on Sunday) with excellent pass catchers, and defenses allowing under 20 points a contest
Both could easily be undefeated as too - especially the Rams as their two defeats occurred in overtime against the San Francisco and then that painful defeat in Philadelphia when they had a potentially winning field goal with the final play deflected and returned by the Eagles for a touchdown
Seattle also lost to San Francisco, with a late touchdown in the opening week, before losing to the last kick of the game against the Tampa Bay - so they're truly two of the best sides in the league
The next matchup on Sunday could be the best of the season so far
Player of the Week - Taylor
Jonathan Taylor might be on for a historic year after his incredible display in Germany - running for 244 yards, registering three touchdowns and adding an additional 42 {receiving yards
